FAQ’s

Q: What classes do you offer?
A: Creative Movement, Pre-ballet, Pre-jazz and Pre-tap. Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced Levels in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Contemporary, Musical Theater and Hip Hop. Male Classes and Performance Classes are also available.

Q: At what age can a child start?
A: We start children at age 2 1/2 and once potty trained.

Q: Do you offer adult classes?
A: Yes!  We offer adult classes in beginning through advanced levels.

Q: What class is appropriate for my child?
A: We place students in age groups. Example: 4-5yrs, 6-8yrs, 9-12yrs and 13 & over. However, we do make allowances according to skill level. Students are accelerated if necessary.

Q: Am I allowed to watch class?
A: All classes hold observation days throughout the year.  This enables parents to see the development in their childs training.

Q: Does your school have performing opportunities?
A: We hold an Annual Production each year in June at the Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. We also offer a competition program, hold a Showcase event and attend 2 competitions a year. This is open to Performance Classes and Intermediate/Advanced students of all ages. The Dancenter is also home to The Danscompany of Gainesville, a non-profit company serving the community through performing at local arts festivals, fundraisers, schools and 2 major concerts each year. The concerts are also performed at The Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. The entrance into the company is through audition.

Q: Are your teachers qualified?
A: The Dancenter staff are extensively trained in dance and education. Our focus is on promoting self-esteem, self-confidence, team work and self-expression. Our staff utilizes teamwork and teaching dance technically and correctly in a positive environment.
